Party in the Park is Celebrate Woking’s annual party in Woking Park. This year celebrated the 150th anniversary of HG Wells’ birth. Wells lived in Woking for a period, and most notably wrote The Time Machine when doing so.
Woking CC had an exhibition in the Futuristic Field along with a few other local sports clubs. Our stand was themed around cycling past and cycling present, with a Victorian “steam punk” influence.
The first section was “cycling – the past” which was a recreation of HG Wells living room.
The second section was “cycling – the present” where we had a minim-display of cycling, showcasing different types of bikes, from the everyday to the fast road bikes. Members of the public were given the opportunity to make their own smoothie using a pedal powered smoothie maker.
In partnership with the Penny Farthing Club (based in Sussex), there were ample photo opportunities for adults and children to have their photo taken on a penny farthing.
It was fantastic day for everyone and included a visit from Cllr Anne Murray, Mayor of Woking.
Check out our YouTube channel for a quick video of what our stand looked like.
